Lady of the Bridge demonstrates how architectural and natural shapes can marry one another. In Dama del Puente, I wrapped Alina’s body with steel beams to make her look mechanically juxtaposed to the human touch of my painting and of her flesh, which coincides with the attention she shows the site seekers. The narrative suggests a giant Alina sitting on the cliff’s edge, taking care of the bridge and its tiny human visitors.
